Monday
We meet at Malta International Airport at 07:00 for flight KM514 which departs at 09.15 and arrives in Vienna at 11.30. Transfer by coach to the centre of this city of the Waltz, followed by transfer and accommodation at Hotel Ananas 4-star. For those who paid for Half Board, dinner will always be in the evening. Afterwards, an outing with the tour leader.
Tuesday
After buffet breakfast we offer you a very impressive excursion around the Vienna Woods. We depart by coach towards the Helental valley and go to Mayerling where we see the hunting lodge, today a chapel, of Prince Rudolph, the only son of Emperor Franz Joseph. It is said that here the prince and Baroness Vetsera committed suicide in 1889. Afterwards we go to Heiligenkreuz where we visit a 12th-century Cistercian monastery. Then we pass by Höldrichsmühle and arrive at the Seegrotte (entrance extra). At the Seegrotte, once a gypsum mine, you can take a boat trip on the largest underground lake in Europe. Not to be missed! In the evening we go out for a drink.
Wednesday
Breakfast and city tour with a local guide to discover the beauty of many historical sites such as Belvedere Palace, the Rathaus, the Parliament, the majestic Ringstraße buildings, Hofburg Palace and St. Stephen’s Cathedral. In the afternoon we will have free time to continue enjoying this beautiful city. Those who wish can visit the Hofburg Palace – the imperial palace in the city centre – or do some shopping in the lovely streets of Mariahilfer Straße and Kärntner Straße. In the evening we go to the famous Prater (transport extra) – where you can ride the Giant Ferris Wheel (extra charge) to enjoy the view of this illuminated city.
Thursday
Buffet breakfast and then a very interesting full-day excursion to the Wachau Valley where we will see a number of small historical and traditional villages. Not only that— we will also see castles and fantastic scenery of gentle mountains and the River Danube. We visit Krems, which has a history of more than 1000 years, Dürnstein with its old houses and streets, and Melk with its famous Benedictine monastery built in Baroque style (entrance extra).
Friday
Today we will visit the capital city of Slovakia – Bratislava. Together we discover this city on the Danube River. We start by visiting the castle that dominates the city and enjoy a spectacular panorama. Then we go to the historic centre full of majestic buildings such as Main Square, Michael’s Gate, St. Martin’s Cathedral and Primate’s Palace. Free time for shopping or sightseeing. Afterwards we visit a shopping centre in Bratislava. Before returning to the hotel, we visit Vienna Shopping City Süd, one of the largest shopping centres in Europe.
Saturday
After breakfast, together with the tour leader we visit the magnificent palace of Schönbrunn and its gardens (entrance extra). This was the summer residence of the Habsburg royal family. Those who wish may visit the palace gardens and enjoy the spectacular scenery they offer.
Sunday
Breakfast and coach transfer to Vienna Airport for flight KM515 which departs at 12.25 and arrives back in Malta at 14.45.
