THE MAGIC OF CHRISTMAS MARKETS IN POLAND - KRAKOW

Sunday 06 December: We meet at Malta International Airport at 04:00 for flight FR7114, departing at 06:15 and arriving in Krakow at 08:50. Transfer by coach to the city centre where we enjoy a city tour of Krakow, discovering the city's main attractions. Check-in at the centrally located Hotel Logos 3 Stars, room allocation and free time. Later, together with the tour leader, we visit Krakow’s famous Christmas Market, one of the most beautiful and atmospheric Christmas Markets in Europe.

Monday 07 December: A wonderful day dedicated to discovering places closely connected with Pope Saint John Paul II. We begin by visiting the Divine Mercy Sanctuary, where Saint Faustina is buried and venerated. We continue through beautiful countryside towards Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its religious significance and impressive pilgrimage complex. Here we visit the monastery and the Sanctuary of Our Lady. The highlight of the day is undoubtedly Wadowice, the picturesque town where Pope Saint John Paul II was born. Among the main attractions we visit are: The Basilica of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary The Birthplace of Pope John Paul II, now a museum (Entrance fees extra)
Tuesday 08 December: A very interesting half-day excursion takes us to Auschwitz-Birkenau, one of the most significant memorial sites in modern European history. Today we visit the former Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camps, a moving reminder of the Holocaust, where millions of innocent people lost their lives. (Entrance fee extra) Later, we return to Krakow, where free time will be available to continue enjoying this beautiful city and its Christmas Markets.

Wednesday 09 December: Discover with us the beauty of the Polish Alps as we visit Zakopane and the spectacular Tatra Mountains. The Tatras form part of the border between Poland and Slovakia and are the highest range of the Carpathian Mountains. Zakopane is Poland’s most famous mountain resort and attracts visitors throughout both summer and winter. We stroll along the famous Krupówki Street, lined with cafés, restaurants, boutiques and traditional horse-drawn carriages. During our tour, we admire the region’s distinctive wooden architecture and visit a small local art museum. Those interested may also take the cable car (extra) to enjoy magnificent panoramic views over the town and surrounding mountains. Later, we return to Krakow.
Thursday 10 December: Breakfast and departure for the famous Wieliczka Salt Mines (entrance fee extra), often referred to as the Underground Salt Cathedral of Poland and considered one of the most spectacular mines in the world.Together with a local guide, we explore the underground chambers, admire impressive salt sculptures and walk through part of the extensive network of tunnels stretching for approximately 300 kilometres. The Wieliczka Salt Mines are included on the UNESCO World Heritage List and are among Poland’s most important cultural attractions. Later, transfer by coach to Krakow Airport for flight FR7141, departing at 22:05 and arriving back in Malta at 00:45.
