Day 01: We meet at Malta International Airport at 07:00 for flight KM514, departing at 09:25 and arriving in Vienna at 11:45.From there, we travel towards Linz, making a short stop in St. Pölten, the modern capital of Lower Austria, beautifully decorated for the festive season and filled with Christmas atmosphere. This city is renowned for its Baroque architecture. Here we see the historic main square and cultural landmarks such as the Landhausviertel and the State Museum. We then continue to Melk, a picturesque town on the banks of the Danube River, where charming streets and the town centre are decorated for Christmas, creating a traditional Austrian atmosphere.Afterwards, we proceed to Linz and check in at the centrally located Hotel Goldener Adler 3star. In the evening, we enjoy a familiarisation walk through the historic centre of Linz, beautifully decorated for Christmas, allowing us to get our first impression of the Christmas Markets.
Day 02: Buffet Breakfast followed by a fascinating excursion to Passau, the German city known as the "City of Three Rivers", where the Danube, Inn, and Ilz rivers meet. The city is dominated by magnificent Baroque architecture. Among the highlights we see are St. Stephen’s Cathedral, home to one of the world's largest church organs, the Rathaus (Town Hall) and the University of Passau. We enjoy a pleasant walk through the Old Town and have free time to experience Passau’s popular Christmas Market. Return to the hotel.
Day 03: In the morning we visit PlusCity, one of the largest shopping centres near Linz, featuring a wide variety of shops including Primark. We then continue to the beautiful Wachau Valley to visit Dürnstein and Krems.Our first stop is Dürnstein, a picturesque town on the banks of the Danube, famous for its wine production, charming historic centre and the ruins of the castle where King Richard the Lionheart was once imprisoned. We stroll through its narrow streets beautifully decorated for Christmas before continuing along the scenic Danube Valley to Krems an der Donau, a town with more than 1,000 years of history. Here we have free time for shopping, sightseeing or simply enjoying a glass of traditional mulled wine.
Day 04: Discover with us the enchanting village of Hallstatt, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. This picturesque Austrian village is renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty. Together with our tour leader, we explore the village, including the church dedicated to St. Mary and the famous Bone House (Beinhaus) (entrance fee extra). Those who wish may take the funicular railway (extra) to visit the world's oldest Salt Mine (entrance fee extra), where spectacular panoramic views of Lake Hallstättersee await. No visit to Hallstatt would be complete without a Lake Cruise (extra), offering a relaxing way to admire the surrounding natural scenery.
Day 05: Breakfast followed by departure for the centre of Vienna, the famous City of Waltzes. We enjoy a city tour exploring some of Vienna’s most important landmarks, including the Rathaus, Parliament Building, the magnificent Ringstraße, Hofburg Palace, and St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Free time will be available to enjoy Vienna’s famous Christmas Markets. At 17:00, we depart for Vienna Airport for flight KM515, departing at 20:35 and arriving back in Malta at 22:55.
