NORTH MACEDONIA
A wonderful journey through North Macedonia, combining the historic city of Skopje, the beauty of Lake Ohrid and spectacular natural scenery.
Group A: 20 – 27 May 2027
Day 1 – Skopje
We meet at Malta International Airport at 18.30 for our direct Wizz Air flight W6 7766 to Skopje, departing at 20.35. We arrive at 22.15 and, after collecting our luggage, travel by coach to the Best Western Turist 3*+, where we check into our rooms.
Day 2 – Skopje & the Millennium Cross
After breakfast, we begin our excursion around the capital city, Skopje. Together with our tour leader, we enjoy a walk to discover its squares, monuments and historic centre. We then continue towards Mount Vodno. Weather and operation permitting, we take the cable car to the Millennium Cross to enjoy beautiful views of the city and its surroundings. The cable-car ride is not included. We also visit the Macedonian Village before returning to the hotel. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 3 – Tikveš Wine Region
After breakfast, we depart on a full-day excursion to the Tikveš wine region. We visit the Wine Museum (entrance fee not included), where we learn more about North Macedonia’s winemaking tradition. We then continue to the Royal Winery for wine tasting and lunch. On our way back to Skopje, we stop at East Gate Shopping Mall, where we have approximately one and a half hours of free time for shopping. We return to the hotel.
Day 4 – Matka, Mavrovo, Struga & Ohrid
After breakfast, we depart from Skopje towards Ohrid at 08.30. Along the way, we stop at Lake Matka, where we enjoy the beautiful scenery of the water surrounded by cliffs and greenery. We continue towards Mavrovo, known for its mountainous landscapes, and then to Struga, where we have time for a walk. Later, we arrive in Ohrid and proceed to Hotel Nova Riviera, where we check into our rooms. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 5 – Ohrid & Lake Cruise
After breakfast, we begin our excursion around the beautiful town of Ohrid. Together with our tour leader, we walk through the streets of the old town and enjoy its atmosphere and lake views. During the day, we also enjoy a cruise on Lake Ohrid, included in the programme, giving us the opportunity to admire the town and its scenery from the water. Afterwards, we have free time to enjoy Ohrid. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 6 – Bitola
After breakfast, we depart on a full-day excursion to Bitola. We enjoy a walk through the centre of this city, known for its elegant buildings and lively atmosphere. There will be free time for lunch, shopping or relaxing in one of the cafés. Later, we return to our hotel in Ohrid.
Day 7 – Bay of Bones & the Monastery of Saint Naum
After breakfast, we have a free morning to enjoy Ohrid at our own pace. In the afternoon, we depart towards the Bay of Bones (entrance fee not included), where we see a reconstruction of dwellings built over the water. We continue to the Monastery of Saint Naum (entrance fee not included), situated in beautiful surroundings close to the lake. In the evening, we enjoy a traditional dinner with local folk entertainment, bringing our holiday to a close in a Macedonian atmosphere.
Day 8 – Ohrid, Skopje
After breakfast, we depart from the hotel at 08.00 towards Skopje Airport for our direct Wizz Air flight W6 7765 back to Malta. The flight departs at 13.00 and arrives in Malta at 14.45.
