Hotel in Sorrento - Hotel Le Meridiana
Day One
We meet at Malta Airport at 05:00 for flight KM612, which departs Malta at 07:00 and arrives at Rome Airport at 08:35. Transfer by coach to the city of Pompeii. In Pompeii, time stood still following the devastation caused by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in the year 79 AD. In these archaeological excavations (entrance extra), we can gain a clear idea of the type and quality of life lived by the Romans at that time. There will also be time for lunch (extra) and shopping. We visit the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Pompeii.
Afterwards, transfer by coach to the centre of Sorrento, where we will be accommodated at Hotel La Meridiana 3 star+ -. Later, an outing with the tour leader to start enjoying this tourist resort. We visit Piazza Tasso in the heart of the town as well as the many narrow streets full of shops selling traditional items.
Day Two
After buffet breakfast, we offer you a very interesting excursion to the beautiful city of Naples, where together with a local guide we discover the Mergellina area, where we can admire the port and yacht marina, as well as the promenade. We see Piazza Plebiscito, Galleria Umberto I, the Royal Basilica of San Francesco di Paola, Piazza del Municipio, Castel Nuovo, and the Royal Palace. We continue to the historic centre of Naples, explore it together, and have some free time for shopping and personal sightseeing.
Day Three
Breakfast, and today is a free day; however, for those who wish, we will organise a full-day excursion (extra) to the world-famous island of Capri. We take the ferry boat directly from Sorrento, which takes us to this very popular, relaxing, and beautiful island. Upon arrival at Marina Grande, we take a minibus to Anacapri to explore this part of Capri together. Those who wish may also take the chairlift to Monte Solaro, from where we can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Amalfi Coast. We then continue to Capri by minibus, where among other sights we see the famous Piazzetta, Augustus Gardens, and Via Camerelle. We take transport back down to Marina Grande and board the ferry back to Sorrento. Return to the hotel.
Day Four
Discover with us the beauty of the Amalfi Coast. Today’s excursion will take us to Amalfi. Along the coastal road, we stop at a belvedere overlooking Positano – a town built on a cliff face, with buildings descending like steps. We continue to the well-known and picturesque resort of Amalfi, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here we take a walk around the port and the town centre, where among other sights we see the cathedral in the central square as well as the Chiostro del Paradiso (entrance extra), dating back to the 13th century, full of arches and columns where the most important Amalfi families were buried. There are also many shops and cafés. Afterwards, we continue to Ravello, situated 350 metres above sea level, from where we can admire the beautiful panorama of the Amalfi Coast. We stop for sightseeing.
Day Five
After breakfast, we begin our journey towards the city of Rome, but first we visit Montecassino, where we will visit the Benedictine Monastery (entrance extra). This monastery is one of the most famous in the world. Afterwards, we continue our journey to Fiumicino Airport for flight KM615, which departs at 21:00 and arrives back in Malta at 22:30.
