Wednesday 2 December: We meet at Malta International Airport at 10:30 for flight KM624, departing at 12:45 for Milan. We arrive at 14:45 and begin our journey by coach towards Sondrio, an elegant town in the heart of the picturesque Valtellina Valley, surrounded by the majestic Alps. Throughout the journey, we enjoy stunning alpine scenery and a typical winter atmosphere. During the Advent season, Sondrio is beautifully decorated with Christmas lights and festive decorations, creating a magical ambience. Upon arrival, we check in at the Grand Hotel Della Posta 4 Stars, located in the heart of the town, close to its charming squares and picturesque streets.
Thursday 3 December: Breakfast followed by a short journey to the picturesque town of Tirano, where we board the famous Bernina Express (extra), considered one of the most scenic railway journeys in Europe. This spectacular train journey of over two hours takes us to St. Moritz in Switzerland, passing through breathtaking alpine landscapes featuring snow-covered mountains, frozen lakes, forests and impressive glaciers. Along the route we enjoy unforgettable panoramic views that make this experience truly unique. Upon arrival in St. Moritz, free time is available to explore this elegant and luxurious resort town, renowned worldwide for its stunning scenery and sophisticated atmosphere, especially during the Christmas season when the town is beautifully illuminated and decorated. Later, we return to Sondrio.
Friday 4 December: Today's excursion takes us to Bergamo and Lecco. Bergamo can be considered two cities in one: Città Bassa and Città Alta. Together with the tour leader, we discover this fascinating city surrounded by ancient fortifications and charming narrow streets. We take the shuttle bus to Città Alta, where the Christmas atmosphere becomes even more magical. Around Piazza Vecchia and throughout the medieval streets, shop windows and stalls display artistic nativity scenes and festive decorations. We then continue to Lecco, a beautiful town on the shores of Lake Como. Here the Christmas Markets offer a unique blend of festive traditions, seasonal treats and handcrafted products. The markets are located around Piazza XX Settembre and the town's central squares, filled with wooden chalets, sparkling lights and the delightful aromas of cinnamon, hot chocolate and roasted chestnuts. Visitors may enjoy mulled wine, traditional sweets and local specialities while admiring the spectacular lake views and Christmas illuminations.
Saturday 5 December: Breakfast followed by departure to Livigno, a beautiful alpine resort surrounded by snow-covered mountains and a festive winter atmosphere. Upon arrival, we explore this picturesque destination and admire its stunning scenery, Christmas lights and seasonal decorations. There will also be an opportunity to take the Carosello 3000 Cable Car (extra) to enjoy spectacular views over the snow-covered Alps. As Livigno is a duty-free zone, ample free time will be available for shopping at attractive prices. Later, we continue to the charming alpine town of Bormio, where we enjoy a walk through its medieval centre, famous for its narrow streets, small boutiques and traditional atmosphere. Free time before returning to the hotel.
Sunday 6 December: After breakfast, we depart for Varenna, a picturesque village situated on the shores of the famous Lake Como. During the festive season, Varenna enjoys a particularly enchanting atmosphere. Upon arrival, free time will be available to stroll along the lakeside promenade, admire the breathtaking mountain views and enjoy the peaceful and romantic surroundings. The village centre is beautifully decorated with Christmas lights and festive ornaments, making the experience even more memorable. Later, we continue to Linate Airport for flight KM625, departing from Milan at 15:15 and arriving back in Malta at 17:15.
