Tuesday 08 December: We meet at Malta International Airport at 10:00 for direct flight KM624 with KM Malta Airlines to Milan, departing at 12:25. We arrive at Linate Airport at 14:25 and begin our journey by coach to Arona, an elegant and picturesque town on the shores of Lake Maggiore. Along the way, we enjoy beautiful winter scenery and the festive atmosphere typical of this season. Upon arrival at the *Hotel Concorde 3+**, room allocation takes place. The hotel enjoys an ideal location close to both the lake and the town centre, allowing guests to enjoy the peaceful and romantic atmosphere of Arona. Dinner at the hotel and a relaxing evening.
Wednesday 09 December: After Buffet Breakfast, we enjoy a fascinating excursion to Switzerland, visiting Ascona, Lugano, and later returning to Italy to visit Como. Our first stop is Ascona, situated on the shores of Lake Maggiore. We enjoy a pleasant walk through its picturesque streets lined with cafés and restaurants before reaching the beautiful lakeside promenade. We then continue to Lugano, where together with the tour leader we explore the historic centre, Via Nassa, famous for its elegant boutiques, and Piazza della Riforma. There will be time to stroll along the lakeside promenade and admire the magnificent scenery of Lake Lugano, surrounded by mountains. Free time will be available to visit the Christmas Market. Our final stop is Como, where together with the tour leader we visit: Piazza Cavour, Piazza Volta, Città Vecchia, Como Cathedral (Duomo), built in white marble and renowned for its Gothic architecture. A stroll along the shores of Lake Como or a visit to the Christmas Market is not to be missed. Dinner at the hotel.
Thursday 10 December: After breakfast, we travel to Domodossola, where we begin our unforgettable journey on the scenic Centovalli Railway (ticket extra). This spectacular train journey, lasting approximately one hour, takes us through beautiful valleys, forests and across impressive bridges, offering breathtaking natural scenery throughout. The train brings us to the Swiss lakeside town of Locarno, situated on the northern shores of Lake Maggiore. Here we enjoy free time to explore its elegant squares, lakeside promenade and charming shops. Those who wish may take the funicular (ticket extra) to Madonna del Sasso, a famous sanctuary and pilgrimage site offering spectacular views over the lake and surrounding mountains. We return to the hotel for dinner, followed by an evening walk with the tour leader.
Friday 11 December: Today we begin with a visit to Vercelli, a historic town famous for its architecture and its important rice-growing industry. We explore the historic centre, beautifully decorated for Christmas, and enjoy free time for sightseeing, shopping or relaxing with a coffee. We then continue to Novara, where we visit the Christmas Market filled with festive colours and seasonal entertainment.Those interested may join the tour leader to visit: Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, Basilica of San Gaudenzio, renowned for its impressive architecture. After a memorable day, we return to the hotel.
Saturday 12 December: Buffet Breakfast and free time. At approximately 10:30, transfer by coach to Linate Airport for flight KM625, departing at 15:15 and arriving back in Malta at 17:15.
