Munich & Bavarian Christmas Markets

Visiting: Munich, Rosenheim, Salzburg, Nurenburg, Augsburg
Friday 04 December: We meet at Malta International Airport at 05:00 for flight KM306, departing at 07:15 for Munich, where we arrive at 09:45. Upon arrival, we begin our excursion to the beautiful Bavarian town of Rosenheim, renowned for its traditional atmosphere and elegant architecture. Together with the tour leader, we explore the historic centre and visit places of interest including Max-Josefs-Platz, St. Nikolaus Church, Ludwigsplatz, the Cathedral, and several picturesque streets beautifully decorated for the Christmas season. During this festive period, the town comes alive with sparkling lights, festive decorations and traditional Christmas Markets, creating a warm and magical atmosphere. Free time will be available to enjoy the town or do some shopping. Later, we continue to Munich and check in at the centrally located Hotel Munich City – 4 Stars. In the evening, we enjoy a familiarisation walk through Munich’s historic centre, admiring the magical Christmas atmosphere, festive squares and the city's famous Christmas Markets.
Saturday 05 December: Breakfast.Today we enjoy a half-day visit to the magnificent Nymphenburg Palace & Park, located approximately 25 minutes from Munich city centre.This impressive Baroque Palace offers the opportunity to visit its splendid interiors, extensive parkland and beautiful gardens.We then return to Munich and enjoy free time to explore the city centre, including Marienplatz, dominated by the towers of the Frauenkirche, the famous Rathaus Glockenspiel, Karlsplatz, and the bustling shopping streets of Neuhauser Straße and Kaufingerstraße, lined with elegant shops and establishments.Naturally, there will also be time to enjoy Munich’s famous Christmas Markets.
Sunday 06 December: A fascinating excursion filled with history and festive atmosphere takes us to the beautiful Austrian city of Salzburg.Known worldwide not only for its stunning architecture and rich history but also for its connection with the famous musical film The Sound of Music, Salzburg offers a truly magical experience during the Christmas season.During our visit we see several iconic landmarks including:• Salzburg Cathedral• Residenzplatz• Market Square• Getreidegasse• Mozart’s Birthplace We also visit Kapitelplatz, where those interested may take the funicular (extra) to the magnificent Hohensalzburg Fortress, offering spectacular views of the city and surrounding mountains.Here visitors may also explore the Watchtower and the Rainer Museum, home to a fascinating collection of medieval weapons. During free time, you may enjoy one of Austria’s most famous and beautiful Christmas Markets, renowned for its festive lights, traditional decorations, handicrafts and magical atmosphere.
Monday 07 December: A very interesting excursion takes us to the historic city of Nuremberg.Together with our local English-speaking guide, we explore the Old Town, one of Germany’s most important historic centres. Free time will be available to enjoy the famous Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt, considered one of the oldest and most beautiful Christmas Markets in Germany.Later, we return to the hotel.
Tuesday 08 December: Breakfast and free time. Later, we enjoy an excursion to the historic city of Augsburg, one of Germany’s oldest cities.Together with the tour leader, we stroll through the city centre and discover important landmarks including the impressive Town Hall, whilst passing several UNESCO World Heritage Sites. There will be ample time to enjoy the traditional German Christmas Markets, filled with the aromas of roasted chestnuts, mulled wine, traditional sausages and festive treats. Afterwards, we continue to Munich Airport for flight KM309, departing at 20:00 and arriving back in Malta at 22:20.
