Visiting: Bregenz, Appenzell, Constance, Meersburg, Lindau, Stein am Rhein & Rhine Falls
Tuesday 08 December: We meet at Malta International Airport at 12:30 for flight KM490, departing at 14:25 and arriving in Zurich at 16:45. Upon arrival, transfer by coach to Austria and the beautiful town of Bregenz. Check-in at the centrally located Grand Hotel Bregenz – MGallery 4 Stars.
Wednesday 09 December: Today’s excursion takes us through the beautiful Swiss countryside as we visit Appenzell and Mount Säntis. Our first stop is the charming town of Appenzell, renowned for its medieval character, colourful buildings and traditional Swiss craftsmanship. Surrounded by picturesque scenery, we continue our journey to Schwägalp, where those interested may take the cable car (extra) to the summit of Mount Säntis. From the top of this spectacular mountain, visitors can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views across Switzerland, Germany and Austria. Later, we return to the hotel.
Thursday 10 December: Today we visit the beautiful German city of Constance (Konstanz). This is the largest city situated on the shores of Lake Constance. There will be time to explore the city and enjoy the famous Winter Magic Christmas Market, considered the largest Christmas Market around the lake.The market is beautifully located directly on the waterfront, creating a magical festive atmosphere. In the afternoon, we return to Bregenz where we continue enjoying the town’s Christmas atmosphere and Christmas Market.
Friday 11 December: Today we visit several charming villages situated around Lake Constance on the German side of the lake. Our first stop is the medieval town of Meersburg, famous for its historic charm, narrow streets and beautiful lakeside setting. We then continue to the island town of Lindau, where we visit attractions such as the Town Hall (Rathaus), Mangturm Tower, and Maximilianstraße, the town’s main shopping street lined with cafés, restaurants and boutiques. At the picturesque harbour entrance we find two famous landmarks: the Lighthouse and the Bavarian Lion Statue. Free time will be available to enjoy the town and its beautiful Christmas Market, located along the lakeshore.
Saturday 12 December: On our final day we visit Stein am Rhein and Neuhausen. Our first stop is the historic town of Stein am Rhein, renowned for its beautifully preserved medieval centre, picturesque buildings and colourful fresco-painted facades. We then continue to Neuhausen to visit the spectacular Rhine Falls, one of Europe's most impressive natural attractions. There will be time to admire the beauty of the falls before continuing to Zurich Airport with many wonderful memories. Check-in for flight KM491, departing at 17:40 and arriving back in Malta at 19:40.
