CHRISTMAS MARKETS OF CROATIA & SLOVENIA
18 – 22 December 2026
Visiting: Zagreb, Plitvice Lakes, Trakošćan Castle, Varaždin, Samobor & Ljubljana
Friday 18 December: We meet at Malta International Airport at 10:00 for flight FR2186, departing at 12:25 and arriving in Zagreb at 14:20.Transfer to the centre of Zagreb and check-in at the centrally located Hotel Dubrovnik 4 Stars, situated in the city's main square.Later, we enjoy an orientation walk with the tour leader as we begin discovering this beautiful city, beautifully decorated for the Christmas season. The famous Christmas Markets are not to be missed.
Saturday 19 December: Today we discover two fascinating destinations in northern Croatia. We begin our journey to the romantic Trakošćan Castle, one of Croatia’s most beautiful historic castles, surrounded by forests and a picturesque lake. We may visit the castle interiors (entrance fee extra) and learn about centuries of noble history while enjoying a relaxing walk through the castle gardens and parkland. We then continue to Varaždin, an elegant Baroque city renowned for its colourful streets, historic palaces, charming squares and inviting cafés. We explore the beautifully preserved Old Town, admire the medieval fortress and enjoy the authentic and charming Christmas Markets.
Sunday 20 December: Breakfast. Today we enjoy a wonderful day at the spectacular Plitvice Lakes National Park. Here we discover sixteen crystal-clear lakes connected by numerous picturesque streams and waterfalls. We walk through the park, where every turn reveals breathtaking natural scenery and spectacular cascades (entrance fee extra). Without doubt, this is a day filled with unforgettable landscapes and natural beauty. Later, we return to the hotel.
Monday 21 December: Today we visit Slovenia, beginning with Ljubljana, the country's charming capital city. We enjoy a city tour visiting attractions including: Ljubljana Castle, Old Town, Dragon Bridge. Beautiful historic squares and streets Free time for lunch, shopping and enjoying the festive atmosphere of Ljubljana’s famous Christmas Market, considered one of the most beautiful Christmas Markets in Central Europe. Later, we return to Zagreb.
Tuesday 22 December: Breakfast and free time. Later, we visit Samobor, a charming and picturesque town located close to Zagreb, renowned for its traditional atmosphere and beautiful architecture. We enjoy a walk through the town centre, where we see: The main square, Historic buildings, Charming narrow streets lined with shops and cafés, Historic churches that add character to this beautiful town. Free time to sample the famous Samobor Kremšnita cream cake, together with other local specialities and souvenirs. Those interested may also enjoy a relaxing stroll along the small river that flows through the town centre. Later, we continue to Zagreb Airport for flight FR2185, departing at 18:05 and arriving back in Malta at 20:05.
