Day 01:
At 08:30 we meet the tour leader at Malta International Airport for Ryanair flight FR7108 which departs at 10:35 and arrives in Bari at 11:55. After arrival, we travel to the beautiful town of Polignano al Mare. With the tour leader we take a panoramic walk around the famous “Terrazze” where we admire views of the Adriatic Sea, the cliffs, and the houses scattered among the alleys of the historic centre with traces of Arab, Byzantine and Spanish influence. Time to take a photo with the monument of Domenico Modugno, Piazza dell’Orologio and the famous Piazza Aldo Moro. We will have a short tour with the leader and free time for lunch. Return by coach to the hotel.
Day 02:
Breakfast and departure to Ostuni, known as “La più bella Città Bianca”. With the leader we visit tourist sites such as Piazza Oronzo, the town centre, the Cathedral, and the Belvedere. Free time, then we continue to Locorotondo. A stop for a lovely experience in the well-preserved centre built around narrow alleys and small rectangular houses with pointed roofs filled with flowers. Afterward we continue crossing the Itria Valley, an area full of vineyards and olive groves, until we reach Alberobello, renowned as a UNESCO World Heritage site. With the leader we discover the “Trulli” (Rione Monti), built with these stone houses and small domed roofs. Free time for souvenir shopping. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 03:
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure with luggage towards Altamura. A walk in the historic centre of the town where we pass through Porta Bari, the beautiful Cathedral, the Gothic Clock Tower, and we taste the famous Altamura bread. We cross the Alta Murgia Valley by coach and enter the Basilicata region to visit another beautiful city called Matera. We visit the historic centre and the Sassi area, which is a complex of caves carved into the rock. In the Sassi we visit the Casa Grotta museum (extra). Dinner at the hotel.
Day 04:
Breakfast. Today is a special environmental and spiritual day in the Gargano area. We begin our journey discovering Le Saline di Margherita di Savoia, stretching over about 20 km. We continue along the beautiful views of the Gargano SP55 road where we enjoy mountainous and coastal scenery of Manfredonia towards Monte Sant’Angelo, where the Grotto/Sanctuary of Saint Michael is found in the large cave. Free time, and later we continue the trip through the landscapes of the Gargano Park to visit the territory of San Giovanni Rotondo. Together with thousands of pilgrims, the tour leader shows us the highlights related to Padre Pio: St. Maria delle Grazie, the Sanctuary of San Pio, and free time for purchasing religious items and for personal prayer near the saint’s tomb. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 05:
Breakfast. Afterward we depart for Santa Maria di Colonna where we make a stop to enjoy La Riva al mare and the lungomare Cristoforo Colombo. We continue to the beautiful city of Trani, nicknamed “The Pearl of the Adriatic”. Here, together with the tour leader, we visit the Cathedral of San Nicola Pellegrino which dominates the fishermen’s shore from a spectacular position. We also visit the historic centre, Piazza della Repubblica, Castello Svevo, and the Municipal Park. Departure to Bari, the city considered the pearl of the Adriatic Sea. We visit the lungomare where we admire the caves carved in the cliffs and the coasts surrounded by clear waters. We visit the historic centre with traces of Arab, Byzantine and Spanish heritage, the cathedral, Piazza dell’Orologio, Cala Porto and the Modugno monument. Free time, then departure to Bari Airport for flight FR7107 which departs at 23:50 and arrives in Malta at 01:10.
