Cologne, Düsseldorf, Aachen, Rüdesheim am Rhein, and Bonn
We meet at the airport at 08:00 for flight FR3462 to Cologne, departing at 10.15 and arriving at 13.05. Transfer to the centre of Cologne and check-in at the Dorint Hotel An Heumarkt – 4 Stars, located in the heart of the city. Room allocation and an introductory walk with the tour leader to start enjoying the beauty of this city and its Christmas Markets.
Breakfast followed by a very interesting excursion to the beautiful historic city of Aachen. We will enjoy a city tour to see the main attractions, including the Cathedral and the Elisenbrunnen Fountain, while strolling through charming streets lined with cafés and ice cream parlours that are hard to resist! Afterwards, there will be ample free time to enjoy the traditional German Christmas Markets, where you can purchase handmade Christmas decorations and experience the aromas of roasted chestnuts and mulled wine. We then return to Cologne for a guided walk with the tour leader to see places of interest and enjoy the city's beautiful Christmas Markets in a truly magical atmosphere.
A wonderful excursion takes us through the Loreley Valley and the charming towns of Koblenz and Rüdesheim am Rhein. We travel through breathtaking scenery along both banks of the Rhine River. Together with the tour leader, we visit the historic centre with its narrow streets, the Rathaus, Münzplatz, and the Liebfrauenkirche. We continue to Rüdesheim am Rhein, a historic town on the Rhine south of Koblenz. Upon arrival, we visit the Marktplatz, the Adlerturm (Eagle Tower), and the famous Drosselgasse, a lively street filled with wine taverns, pubs, and shops where we can sample the famous Rüdesheimer Kaffee. We also visit the town's Christmas Market, one of the attractions Germany is renowned for.
Today we offer a half-day excursion to the city of Bonn, where we visit landmarks such as the Market Square, Town Hall, and the Minster Church, one of the city's most famous landmarks. The renowned composer Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn.We return to Cologne, where along the famous Schildergasse and Hohe Straße shopping streets, we can visit the city's renowned Christmas Market, attracting millions of visitors from around the world. Here we will find numerous stalls selling Christmas decorations, festive gifts, handcrafted glassware, and much more. The delightful aromas of mulled wine, roasted chestnuts, gingerbread, and traditional bratwurst fill the air.
Afterwards, we continue enjoying the wonderful atmosphere of Cologne.
Breakfast and transfer to Cologne Airport for flight FR5205, departing at 12.10 and arriving back in Malta at 14.55.
